The gastritis is what is known as inflammation of the stomach caused by various reasons. Reasons that range from the most common (ingestion of certain medications, too much alcohol or infection) to not so common causes (anemia, extreme stress, bile reflux, etc). It can also fall into two categories, which are acute and chronic gastritis, the latter being the worst because it is the one that can last for months or even years.
How do I know if I have gastritis?
This condition comes with a number of symptoms like most disorders. If you have any or all of the symptoms described below, it may mean gastritis (we cannot diagnose anything, this should be done by your GP):
- Loss of appetite
- Sickness
- Burning in the stomach
- Vomiting and blood in these and in the stool
- Black stools
- Pain in the belly and / or ribs
Each indication can go to a greater or lesser extent and having just one does not mean that you have gastritis, but if you have more than one and even in great intensity, you have a high probability of suffering from it.
How do I heal it? – Gastritis treatment
The “cure” depends on what is causing the problem. The most normal thing is that these symptoms gradually disappear over time, but if they do not, you will need to take prescription or non-prescription antacids.
You will also need to stop taking other medications such as “aspirin” ibuprofen, or naproxen. You will have to find out what is causing your gastritis.
However, there are several ways to end the ailment, and they range from natural to taking other medications, but for the treatment of gastritis we recommend trying natural remedies such as honey, which, consumed on an empty stomach, strengthens the walls of the stomach and thus reducing burning.
Try one (or all) of the 3 remedies below and let us know how it worked for you.
Natural medicine
- Pour 2 tablespoons of honey into warm water and drink it every day on an empty stomach.
- Put 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a hot or warm cup and take it in the morning on an empty stomach.
- Eat honey porridge for breakfast every day.
You can also try beneficial foods to treat gastritis, such as yogurt, honey, coconut water, any fruit or vegetable. And what you should avoid at all costs is alcohol, meats, citrus juices and spicy foods.
